I have a gray line and extra space showing up above the headline on single post pages only. I've been over and over the options and CSS, and can not figure out where it is coming from. Any ideas?

Take a look at the Style boxes in ATO>Next/Previous Navigation. The code for the borders is in there or you could set the "navigation location" to bottom or none in a couple of the dropdown boxes.

Also as a suggestion. You might want to try adding fixed to the background image line in ATO>Body, Text, & Links>Body Style such as the following.

background:url("/wp-content/themes/atahualpa351/images/militarymamaflowerback.jpg")  repeat top left fixed;
