Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

All-in-one-SEO or Atahualpa?

Hello - I'm currently using 'All in one SEO' for my Atahualpa themed blog. I'm having difficulty getting people to my site though for the main keyword I want.

My website is: http://www.griefermadness.com and I want it to be the first result when someone types 'griefing' into a search engine.

I'm considering getting rid of the SEO plugin and just using the Atahualpa built in one, which would allow me to use "Make Post/Page Titles H1" which I feel would impact my search rankings. What are you thoughts on this everyone, or do you have a better suggestion as to how I can rank better for the keyword 'griefing'?

PS I should mention that almost EVERY one of my posts, as well as their descriptions, have the keyword 'griefing' in them, which is why I am confused it's not showing up in the search engines!

IMHO getting ranked higher in searches is more about how long your site has been up, the number of links back to it from well ranked sites, how much competition for a particular keyword, etc, etc. Also getting a high rank for a single word like that will probably be more difficult. If I type "griefing madness" your site is second. If I type "griefing grief madness" it is first. I know of no magic bullet for getting a high ranking but I am not an SEO expert either. I do have a friend who works as an SEO professional and he tells me this is more an art than a science.

Based on a very quick look at the terms griefing and griefer it looks like you might have a bunch of competition for those terms plus how ling has your site been up?

Hey - thank you for the reply! It's only been up a few months. However, what confuses me is the fact that some of those sites that show up with 'griefing' in them are only articles, not entire websites devoted to the content! I don't get how 1 article can place higher than and entire website.

I'm wondering too if there's any merit in keeping all in one seo going to just using the atahualpa built in one. Do H1 titles really help?

Those articles may be linked to from high ranking sites. I think H1 tags can help.

'check the onpage' - what do you mean by this?

also, i remember reading another posting that someone was using the atahualpa built in SEO along with all-in-one-seo. they said that it was working fine - but i'm not sure if i should do this because the theme warns against doing it.

should i JUST use the built in SEO - will it do a good enough job??? thanks for all your advice so far!

ignore that phrase, it was posted by a spammer just trying to get their links in this forum

As for which SEO tool to use your guess is as good as mine. My experience has been that the more active I am on the site and the more high quality links back to the site I have the better. Creating good titles for pages and posts is important as well. My tendency at this time is to go with the Bytes For All SEO.

so i guess i should just disable all-in-one-seo? i don't want them interfering with one another.

also, if i did disable all-in-one-seo, how long until i could expect to see results on search engines like google? how often do they 'crawl' websites (if that matters?)?

You should check out The Google Webmaster Help Channel. I find it gives you a pretty balanced idea of SEO and what it can and can't do.
