Hi,
I'm trying to make Flashfader plugin work in the sidebar. The installation instruction asks me to add a line of code in sidebar.php file. But sidebar.php file is missing in the theme folder. Can you please let me know how to go about this?
Thanks,
F14testing Team

That's a pretty old plugin. Why not use something like the NextGen widget for your slideshow? There are others as well. I am just familiar with NextGen. If you for some reason NEED to use Flashfader you could install the Advanced Text widget and put the following code in it but I'm not sure if it is compatible with the latest versions of WordPress
HTML Code:
<?php include (ABSPATH."wp-content/flashfader/flashfaderhtml.txt"); ?>

Thanks for the prompt response. Okay, if I now want use NextGen, which one should I go for? There are many like NextGEN Gallery, NextGEN Smooth Gallery, NextGEN-FlashViewer, NextGEN-ImageFlow, NextGEN Gallery Sidebar Widget, etc.

The NextGen Gallery plugin has most, if not all, of the functionality you will need including a widget for the sidebar. The other plugins give you addon functionality that you MAY want. What I do is install and play with the various plugins.

Hi lmilesw,
I'm unable to make the NexGen widget work for me. After adding the widget, the flash viewer (photo gallery) doesn't appear on the webpage. I just see the title for the widget; everything else is blank. Can you please help me on this? The URL is www.f14testing.com.
Thanks in advance!

In your backend if you go to Gallery/Options/Slideshow you sill see that you have to download a rotator file (there is a link there) and where you have to put it. If you don't want to fiddle with that you could try the Lazyest Gallery Plugin. I haven't tried it but it looks like it will do what you want as well. If you PM me with a login for your site I could set this up for you.

Hi lmilesw,
I was able to set up NexGen. The "Nexgen Widget" widget is working fine. But I'm unble to see "NexGen Slideshow" in the sidebar even if the widget is added. Hopefully, I did all the required settings since I was able to make "NexGen Widget" work. Any hep on this? If you want you can see the issue on www.f14testing.com. It's there in the right sidebar with title F14. It's completely blank.
Thanks,
F14testing Team

You probably need to install the rotator file as outlined in the slideshow settings of NextGen.

It's the imagerotator.swf file. Just upload to the wp-content/uploades folder.

Thanks man! I made it work with your help
But for the slideshow widget, when a picture is loading, a faded image of "JW Player" is displayed. This makes the slideshow lose it glamor. Can I somehow get rid of "JW Player" image?

To get rid of that you have to buy the commercial version from longtailvideo.com.
