Layout problem with images and text

Hi. I'm using WP and Atahualpa to make a small static website. On the home page, I'm using small images (100x100) left aligned with text to the right of each image. The CSS file eats the blank lines (to clean up space) so when i put blank lines after the text to keeping the images on the left, the theme removes them and makes my page look lousy. How can i deal with this or should i create a table on the page?
