Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

A total newbie to html, having worked on blogger using WYSIWYG.
I registered with a host last week, and they've been dealing with target of service attack ever since - I don't know if this is affecting what I can or cannot do.
I want to put my own jpeg photo in the header. Also, I thought I had deleted all but one of the photos on offer, but the image seems to be rotating again.
Would appreciate advice!

are you trying to delete them from within the WP Admin or by logging into the server and removing it from the backend or via an FTP client...? I'm confused...

Rashell, Thank you for your reply!!
I got support from Bluehost - they led me through steps on my C panel so header photo is changed!

But I am at a point in configuring the theme where I don't have a clue about continuing to build the site. Please look at it: http://alicesgardentravelbuzz.com

(I started out on Suffusion, deleted it, and some things seemed to automatically switch to Atahualpa)

I want to monetize with ads...and need to figure out how to do that.

But first I need to figure out how to lay out information in columns: if you look at my blogger site: http://BayAreaTendrils.blogspot.com
I have listing in right hand column with photos to click on. Maybe I can't do that here.

I know no html at all, and I'm trying to learn. One step at a time....

Thank you again!!

well, 1 you are going to want to learn some html for web design. 2.... google will help a lot for what you dont know. For some things i just google the code that i am looking for and i can easily copy and paste different codes.

You may want to look into filezilla - it is a great tool to get into your folders on your host and edit, upload, change permissions etc.

you should make the middle column fluid and not fixed. i can try to help you but we have to work with 1 thing at a time. I am still learning this theme and hopefully i can do some really advanced stuff with it if i can figure it out.
atahualpa automatically comes in that columns set....
it comes with 5 total and you can create more or add more widget areas.

i only use the 3 main ones which are the right and left outer sidebars and middle column.

I will look into flexilla.

For now, I can't even recall where I first entered the request for 2 columns either side in order to change this.

Or where I first entered the headings for Green Destinations / Resources / Topics

I think it was originally in Suffusion and they transferred when I changed themes

its filezilla...

anyways, do you want your website to look like the blogspot one?

the way that atahualpa is set up with default settings is that there are 4 widget areas... each of those equal 1 column and the middile where the posts are equal 1 column.

If you want to use it like the blogspot one, you need to move all your widgets to the right widget area. dont use the others.

the widget areas that are not used will dissappear... from there you can adjust the width of the right side widget....

the 2 columns on either side come with the theme and with this theme, you can change just about everything and that is why this is so good.

Oop., O.K. " filezilla..."

"anyways, do you want your website to look like the blogspot one? "

No, I want more flexibility - a more professional appearance - more options for ad placement & more content.

"the way that atahualpa is set up with default settings is that there are 4 widget areas... each of those equal 1 column and the middile where the posts are equal 1 column. "

How do I readjust the 4 columns I created? I'd like 3 to remain for now - 1 on left and 2 on right.

Do I need to go into the html code from when I first downloaded the theme? That's scary.

gotcha! No you do not need to go to the files... atahualpa is a big theme that can be customized within the options panel.

here are the steps:

1. login to wp and go to appearance ->atahualpa theme options -> style and configure sidebars
2. Go towards the bottom and you will see left sidebar width, left inner sidebar width, right sidebar width, right inner sidebar width

3.... now you really dont have to mess with these unless you want to make one of the sidebars wider or less wide. if so, you pick which one you want wider and add more to the pixels and vice versa.

For the 4th sidebar that you are not using (which is the left inner)... just leave it alone and dont use it... it will not show up unless it is being used ---- if youd like, you may be able to set the left inner sidebar pixel to 0 and see what it does.

looks good!!!!

go to style & configure layout towards the top of the options and see if the very first box says 99%

im not sure if you want yours to be fluid or fixed, but fluid helps with different browsers.

go to www.unitingthenations.com and then change your browser size to see what mine does....

Question:
How do I set single space in my posts?
It automatically posts double spaces and I don't see an icon to change it?
Thanks!!

Please open a new thread when changing topics
You do have single spacing - the extra line is between new paragraphs. if you look at your post 'Blooming at Rancho La Puerta' teh lsecond paragraph has the word 'property' on a new line. the line starting 'this winter-flowering species' is actually a new paragraph. Look at your post using the HTML editor and fixi it.
