Ok I got in. That block is actually a page with no page title. Check to see how many pages you have defined and if any don't have a page title

ahhh, I had a page that I needed to exclude from the menu bar in order to make a static homepage....

if you want a page as the static front page go tp dashboard->settings-reading->frontpage displays and pick your page there
