Hello,
Will I lose any of my setting when upgrading from version 3.4.1 to 3.4.2?
Is it recommend to upgrade or should I stick with version 3.4.1 until 3.4.3 gets released?
Thanks in advance

No you won't lose anything. You can even have both releases in the themes folder (just make sure that the folder has a diferent name, call one atahualpa341 and the other atahualpa342)
I recommend 3.4.2

I don't want to create two folders for Atahualpa. I would like to have only the latest version.
Do I have to upload all the files and folders to the Atahualpa folder on my server, overwriting the existing ones?

Yes you must upload the entire contents. Remember to backup any images you put in images/header

Question -- when updating manually is there anything special I must do or will my existing settings remain in place even though I am replacing files???
Thanks for clarifying

All your setting are stored in teh DB. My method of upgrading is to download the theme to my computer and unzip it. I then name teh folder with the release number (ie atahualpa344). I copy in all the images I'm using and then upload the folder to the themes directory.
At this point you will have two versions of the theme in the themes folder and you can swap back and forth to make user everything looks correct, before getting rid of the old cop of the theme.
Make sure to look at all teh locations in the theme where you may have specified the path to an image and adjust it to the new name of the theme (ie atahualpa344)

Hi Juggledad,
I'm a newbie, sorry for my question.
I'm using last version of WP (on my local PC) with atahualpa 3.4.4. I will upload all on a web server. If I will use automatic upgrade to atahualpa 3.4.5 will I loose all my customization? I receive an advice sayng that I will loose all my customizations..
thanks for all

the Atahualpa options are stored in the WP database, so you will not loose ay thing you dd via the options. For example, if you went to ATO->Body, Text & Links->Link Hover Color and changed that from CC0000 (red) to 000000 (black) that is stored in the database and will not be effected when you do the upgrade.
If you added any header images to atahualpa344/images/header, you will need to copy them before the upgrade and load them back in after the upgrade (to atahualpa345/images/header if ysing the version number as part of the folder name) and may need to change the reference in an option (say you put the full url path in a CSS Insert)
If you made any changes to the code itself, you wil loose them so you need to document them and redo them in the new release.
Of course, before doing any upgrade you are going to do a backup of your database and the contents of teh wp-contents directory...right???
