There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

Character set in a meta tag - an Atahualpa problem?

Hi,

I was told by an online performance rating website that...:

Quote:
The following resources have a character set specified in a meta tag. Specifying a character set in a meta tag disables the lookahead downloader in IE8. To improve resource download parallelization, move the character set to the HTTP Content-Type response header.
And my website (the main domain) is in this list. I am honest: I only have a slight idea what it means.

But I would like to know: Is this something that is caused by the theme Atahualpa, could I change it, should I change it and if not, why?

It has a "high priority" listing with regard to performance, that's why I am interested in fixing this.

Thank you.
Cheers,
Felix

I have no idea what that is all about, but if you want to make a change and test it the code that adds that is in header.php at the very begining

might want to take a look at this http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7...esponse-header

Thanks a lot. I have tried that and there seems to be an issue with my htaccess file - definitely beyond the scope of this forum, I'll ask in the Wordpress forums.

Just to describe what happened: I removed the line from the home.php and added the line they recommend in your link.

On my machine (Chrome) everyrthing worked. On a different machine (Firefox) some of the special characters (like Umlauts and full dashes etc) were turned to strange symbols. I had that very same problem a while ago when I exported/imported my wordpress database from/to a new database via phpMyAdmin.

I'll try out some things this afternoon and will post it here if I find a solution, just so other readers might find it.
