Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

sorry, but i just realized that all the filenames don't work/link for posts that i previously created although pages that i created link properly... it seems like my overall file structure/naming changed and i just wanted to change the one filename... so how should i resolve/fix this so my existing links for posts still work? btw, i've just changed back to the default setting for permalinks for now so that my links to existing posts still work, but i still need to set the specific filename for this one new page i need to create/publish by sunday... thanks!

I believe you started another thread on this where I said to change the permalinks so I have a couple of questions.
What are your permalinks currently set to?
What is an example of a link to a page you already set?
Also do you have a link to the site?

hi, yes, i wasn't sure how to reply to a closed thread... sorry

i reset the permalinks to what they had been before, i.e. default

the site is www.playgood.org

when i changed the permalinks as you suggested the links worked fine to the "pages" i had previously created, but all the links changed and links broke to "posts" i had previously created (you can see the current links in the sidebar on a subpage off a post). ideally, i'd like to keep the current filenames for posts/pages the same so that all my links still work, but yet i need to create one new page with a specific filename (that has been promoted already so the name i have to use is "set") and i'm not sure how to do that... thanks for any help

This is fine starting another thread. I just wanted to make sure you were the same person. What version of Atahualpa are you running. If it is 3.6.7 have you applied all the patches as outlined in the new versions and updating forum?

What links don't work after changing permalinks? That shouldn't happen unless they are ones you hand coded.

i'm running 3.4.9 and it seems as if all the posts, which were not hand-coded, don't work when i customize the permalink... do i need to update to make it work? thanks

That seems like a possibility. If you do be sure and do a MANUAL backup per these instructions so you can switch back if all isn't right. Also be sure and apply ALL patches for 3.6.7. Here are the links to the patches.
  • PATCH 367-01: Odd effects when 'CSS: Compress' = 'Yes'
  • PATCH 367-02 is incorporated in PATCH 367-04
  • PATCH 367-03: PHP errors when adding widget areas in index.php
  • PATCH 367-04: Hovering over a Post/Page title only shows "Permanent Link to"
  • PATCH 367-05: Site Title appended after the 'WordPress SEO by Yoast' title

I am not sure how you would do this without changing the permalinks. You could perhaps use a redirect plugin or the htaccess file.

i just installed he redirection plugin, but i must be doing something wrong because i tried putting the filenames in the source and target URL fields, but i get an error page not found for both options... we've promoted a specific filename, e.g. http://www.playgood.org/filename and so i assume that is the source URL and then i wrote the real/working url in the target field e.g. http://www.playgood.org/?page_id=74 and i've tried vice versa in the source/target fields, but still get the error messages... the source URL doesn't exist as an actual page anywhere right now which is why i need to redirect anyone who types that url.... any idea what i might be doing wrong? thanks so much

I just tried a redirect plugin and it works fine unless I set permalinks to default. I wasn't sure this would work which is why I said perhaps.

i think i may be sorted without the plugin (which i still have installed)... took a chance and did the auto update to 3.6.7 and then changed to a custom permalink structure and it "seems" to all be working... even though it added -4 to end of the custom pagename i created... but when i type the original/new filename it somehow actually goes to the filename-4 page which is where i wanted it to go... not sure what's happening, but it seems to all be working out how i need it for the one target landing page! going to re-test all my links etc again, but miraculously the auto update seemed to do it as you'd said it should work in 3.6.7 so thanks again for your help, really appreciate it!

They apply to more than what is mentioned in the titles. It is just a matter of replacing some files.
