Hi, I upgraded from my Wordpress 3.2 nightly build that was working fine (but very slowly) with atahualpa 3.5.x to atahualpa 3.6.7.
My Excerpts had been limited to 40 words, I already tried to use standard 55 also.

They now vanished totally. I don't have a clue why.

try swapping to twenty ten to see if it is a wordpress of theme issue

If I try other themes, I get text.
With 21 it seems to work.
Before my upgrade to 3.6.7 it worked correctly with 3.5.x

Also mit anderen Themes kriege ich die Startseite komplett mit Texten angezeigt, jedoch meist mangels Excerpt-Fähigkeit der Themes dann mit vollen Text. Vor dem Upgrade auf Atahualpa 3.6.7 funktionierte es mit 3.5.x ja auch.

Did you apply the three 3.6.7 bug fixes as listed in the New Versions and Updating thread?

Not yet. They also dont seem to fit to my problem.
I just tried out 3.6.7-9 but that didnt helped

umm, there is no bugfix 367-09, there is a bugfix 364-09

If you want help, apply all the 'BUGFIX 367-nn' - currently there are 3 fixes.

So, Bugfixes are done, but behavior hasn't change (as expected, as no bugfix-description touched my issue)

Design and Function isn't completly divorced!!!

Every update again I have to search css.php for manual correction of category bars (menu2) design!
Have to change dashed to solid, ccc to 000 and add background black.

Why would you edit the code when you case add the CSS to the CSS inserts option?

so lets review. You are using the beta wordoress version 3.2
you had atahualpa 3.5.x but upgraded to 3.6.7 (did it work with 3.5.x and wp 3.2?) and now the excerpts don't show.

What happens if you set ato->configure EXCERPTS->Posts or excerpts on HOME page? to Excerpts only and ato->configure EXCERPTS->Show the first X posts on HOME page as full posts? to '2'?
Do you get two full posts

What happens if you disable all plugins?

The use of Atahualpa with my Nightly Build beta 3.2 Wordpress is doing fine now.

Viewing Full Posts or only 1 or 2 Full, following the (broken) excerpts worked.
As I have more than 30 plugins active, I didn't switched off all, since I had bad experience in the past when doing so (when reactivating I got some problems).

But indeed, I tested a few and also removed two older, less used ones.
So I really found out a guilty plugin.
Atahualpa 3.6.7 isn't compatible anymore with "Thumbnails for Excerpts". I prefered that plugin instead of the Atahualpa given function, because it used a given default thumbnail if there wasn't a articlespecific pic. My previos used 3.5.x Version cooperated with that plugin, even atahualpa already had a similar internal function.

So, the solution for me was: "Turning of Thumbnails for Excerpts", which is although even a very usefull plugin anymore - espacially if you're using a less powerfull theme than atahualpa :-D

So, sorry, my fault. Because it was always such a non-troubling plugin I just didn't had it in my mind as suspicious.
