I've been using Atahualpa 3.4.4 very happily with no complaint for about a year. But today, it just disappeared. I can log onto WordPress, but the Atahualpa Theme Options have disappeared from the left-hand column. The themes sections still says 3.4.4 is my current theme. When I try to go to my site I see nothing but the little smiley in the upper left-hand corner. The favicon also disappeared which makes me think the whole theme is just gone. What should I do? I am using Wordpress 3.1. My site is www.honeybeesuite.com hosted by BlueHost.

Try turning off any new plugins you have added - or all plugins and see what happens

I wish it was under the couch. I checked off all my plug-ins and then pressed deactivate all. I got the warnings below (there are lots more but they won't fit your character limit). Now I can't even get into WordPress. When I go to my site from the outside I get to see the warnings all over again. Am I done blogging forever?

When I look at ftp, it appears that the theme files are still there--at least the directory you named is there.

Prior to this problem I was trying to change my logo in ftp. I had gone into theme options to see what I had to change, then I used ftp to load my new logo. When I went back to my site it said I no longer had access and the theme options tab in the left-hand column was gone.

I thought I did something wrong with the logo file, so I went back in ftp and removed the logo I had just put there. But I still couldn't access my site. I still could get into my dashboard, though, until I deactivated all the plugins according to Juggle Dad's suggestion. At that point I received the list of error messages.

I don't know how to do anything like updating my theme because I can't get into Wordpress dashboard. When I try to log in, all I get is the long list of error messages like you see when you go to the site.

I am so glad you are helping me. Thank you so, so much. I'm helping thousands of beekeepers get started and right now is the height of season for setting up hives--wouldn't you know. If I lose this site I will freak.

If you switch to twenty ten, does the site come up?

The error is on statements like

include_once (TEMPLATEPATH . '/functions/bfa_theme_options.php');

so you should check to see if there is a 'functions' folder in the atahualpa folder and if there are files in it. There should be some 24 files in the 'functions' folder

I can't switch to twenty ten because I can't get into wordpress dashboard. I can't even get to the log in screen. Just the error messages come up. This would help, if I could get into the dashboard.

Yes, I find 24 files in the functions folder via ftp.

If you go to http://www.honeybeesuite.com/wp-admin/ you will see why I can't log in. If you could figure a way in, I could update the theme.

Using FTP, go to the theme folder then to the atahualpa folder and rename index.php to indexed.php thn try to vet into the site

I tried that, but I still couldn't get into the site. Afterward, I went back in ftp and undid it.

Someone from WordPress.org suggested I try to upload a fresh copy of the theme through ftp. I read your piece on how to upgrade Atahualpa to a new version manually, but near the end you say to go into your dashboard to activate the theme. Is there a way to activate without going into the dashboard, since I can't get to the dashboard?

Ohmygod! I changed the theme name and got into dashboard!!!!!!!!

I haven't yet uploaded the new version, but I will do that now. I hope this works, I hope, I hope.

Actually it was 3.4.4 but who's looking. Anyway I see your point but I would still opt for 3.5.3. Maybe upload both an atahualpa344 and an atahualpa353 folder so you can switch between.

After talking with the user, she is back up and running and upgraded. Still don't know why she had the original issue, but she is very happy now.
