Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

Firstly let me say what a fabulous theme and great forum this is. Now, to my question:

All my pages and posts have a custom menu in the header, then single column content showing full posts and no sidebars.

However, I have a few categories that I would like to behave differently to the others. For these categores I would like to have:

1) A custom category menu in the header in addition to the page menu
2) A three column page
3) Posts shown as thumbnails/excerpts only

Is this possible? And what would be the best way to accomplish it?

Is it possible to create a 3-column page template which is only used by certain categories? And then add some code in the header (or css?) to display the extra menu on that template only?

Many thanks in advance for any help you can offer me.

Use
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/widget-logic/
then add the desired widgets in the sidebars, and use is_category(##) as the widget logic activator (replace ## with the category ID or name of the category where you want the widgets/sidebars to show). This way the widgets will be shown only in pages belonging to the specified category.

1) would still be possible if that menu was added to a new widget area, still using widgetlogic. but i'm sure there are other ways around.

3) no idea
