Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

[SOLVED] Themes icons are no longer displayed but uploaded images are

Hi,

I am running Atahualpa v3.5.3. A couple of days ago my site went down and when it was restored only the images inside a post are shown while the theme icons appear like broken images.

What's wierd is that the uploaded images are under /wp-content/uploads/
while the theme icons are under /wp-content/themes/atahualpa353/images

But if you select an uploaded image on the site, the path given sets it under the themes folder but the real path is not!
for example: http://www.beatingtheindex.com/wordp...oil.barrel.jpg
Here's a theme icon's real path:
http://www.beatingtheindex.com/wp-co...icons/date.gif

The hosting tech support are denying they did anything wrong. Do you have any idea on what needs to be done to get this problem fixed? Should I just move the theme icons under the uploads folder?

Thanks,

BTI

it looks to me that you originally had wordpress installed to the folder that your domain name points to and that they restored it to a folder called 'wordpress' inside your root folder. this is why the images don't work.

Take the 'logo.white.png' image (BTW: using two periods in a file name is asking for trouble, you should use an underscore or dash so it would be 'logo-white.png') The full path to the file use to be
http://www.beatingtheindex.com/wp-co...logo.white.png
but now it is
http://www.beatingtheindex.com/wordpress/wp-content/themes/atahualpa353/images/logo.white.png
which is why it is no longer found.

Of course this could also have to do with how you have your dashboard->settings->general-> WordPress address (URL) and Site address (URL) setup.

Hi Jugglehead,

Thank you for taking a look. I remember that both my site url and wordpress url are set to the same url : www.beatingtheindex.com.

my problems seem to be getting worse as I can no longer access the wp dashboard.
Do you have any solutions to suggest?

Just checked ftp again and both my themes and uploads folder are found under /wordpress/wp-content

Thanks,

BTI

Go in via FTP and look in the 'wordpress' folder and see if you have an '.htaccess' file, then look in the the parent folder.

You may have conflicting htaccess files

I found 2 .htaccess files indeed with 1 day difference in the modification date.

comparing both of them, the one under wordpress is small while the one in the parent directory has extra code modules.

It seems my hosting undid whatever they did last time, I got my wp dashboard access and my theme icons back but now the inpost images disappeared! .

thanks for all your feedback juggledad!

Hi Juggledad,

Thank you again for all the time you put looking at my problem.

I ended up installing a search and replace plugin and simply updated the path to each image in every post. This solved the problem.

Best Regards,

BTI
