Wordpress Themes - WP Forum at BFA
There will be no more development for Atahualpa (or any other theme), and no support. Also no new registrations. I turned off the donation system. I may turn the forum to read only if it gets abused for spam. Unfortunately I have no time for the forum or the themes. Thanks a lot to the people who helped in all these years, especially Larry and of course: Paul. Take care and stay healthy -- Flynn, Atahualpa developer, Sep 2021

Hi,

I wanted to remove the 'Recent Posts' and 'Meta' sections on the rhs of my page, so I went into the Admin -> Appearance -> Editor and edited the file Footer.php to comment out the lines of code that were showing the 'Recent Posts' and 'Meta'.

Now I'm just wondering what will happen if / when I upgrade my theme when a new one comes out... I presume my changes will disappear? How do I prevent this?

Many thanks,
WP.

OSX 10.11.5 WP 4.x Atahualpa(all) Safari, Firefox, Chrome
you are absolutely correct, when you upgrade you will lose your changes.

however there is an easier way. Those are the default widgets that appear when you have not added a widget. Once you add your own widget, you are telling WordPress to 'back off, I'm in control' and only the widgets you specify will show up.

or you could use the Atahualpa option to just not display the right sidebar (ato->Style & configure SIDEBARS)

There are very few reasons you have to edit the theme code and that's mostly if there is a fix that has been published.

Many thanks for that, JD.

I've just done that using widgets, and not only does it prevent me needing to do coding, but it looks better too!
