The error message shown in the attached image only appears in IE not Firefox and has been annoying me for quite some time. It doesn't appear to interfere with pages but I'd still like to get it fixed and all my experimenting to date has failed.

well it the 1639 character in the first line it doesn't like. I'd suggess turning off the compressing you are doing wo make it a bit more manageable to find that character. No way would I count 1639 characters in one line to see where the error lies.

try it uncompressed and see what error shows up

Compression it was. I recently started using W3 Total Cache Plugin and had enabled the Minify Settings. Disabled HTML Minify settings and left JS and CSS Minify enabled and the problem seems to have been corrected.
